Million Frog March Poetry Contest: terms and conditions
Dates
- The Million Frog March Poetry Contest opens on Sunday, October 4, 2026, and closes on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 7:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time (4:00 PM Pacific Time). Poems must be submitted before the contest closes.
How to enter
- Poems must be submitted through the online entry form at https://contests.savethefrogs.com/march-poetry/enter. Poems sent by email or post cannot be accepted.
- Each poet may enter one poem.
- Poets of all ages, from every country, are welcome. A parent, guardian or teacher may submit a poem on behalf of a young poet.
- Each entry must include the poet's name, an email address, the poet's country and agreement to these terms.
Your poem
- The poem must be the poet's own original work, and must not be written by AI (artificial intelligence) tools.
- The poem may touch on any theme suited to the Million Frog March: democracy, taking action, amphibians, environmental conservation, or anything connecting them.
- Poems must be appropriate for a public reading to an audience of all ages.
Reading, publication and your rights
- SAVE THE FROGS! Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger will read selected poems aloud at the Million Frog March on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with credit to each poet by name.
- By entering, the poet (or the parent, guardian or teacher submitting on the poet's behalf) agrees that SAVE THE FROGS! may read the poem aloud, record and broadcast that reading, and publish the poem with the poet's name in print, online, on social media and in educational and promotional materials, without further notice or payment. SAVE THE FROGS! may choose to read, publish or use any poem, or not, at its sole discretion.
- The poet keeps the rights to their poem and may continue to use and publish it.
Judging and prizes
- Poems will be judged by Dr. Kerry Kriger and/or judges appointed by SAVE THE FROGS!.
- Grand Prize: one poet will receive $50.
- Honorable Mentions will also be awarded, and SAVE THE FROGS! may award other prizes.
- Everyone who submits an appropriate poem will receive a certificate.
- The judges' decisions are final and without appeal in all matters related to this contest and its prizes.
Fine print
- SAVE THE FROGS! assumes no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete or not received for any reason, including technical problems with any computer, network, server or website.
- If you enter, you may be added to the SAVE THE FROGS! email list. SAVE THE FROGS! does not sell or rent email addresses and will not share entrants' personal information with any other party. Your information is used to run this contest, to contact you about your entry and certificate, and to keep you informed about other ways you can help save the frogs.
- By entering, entrants agree to release and hold harmless SAVE THE FROGS! and its employees, officers, directors, volunteers and agents from any liability for any loss or damage of any kind in connection with this contest.
- SAVE THE FROGS! may modify, suspend or cancel this contest, or amend these terms, if circumstances beyond its reasonable control require it.
- Entrants must comply with these terms, and are deemed to have read and understood them by entering.
